In Business - What you don't know actually will hurt you !
Marketing is about finding and keeping customers.

The definition of marketing is; “the business activity of presenting products or services in such a way as to make them desirable” also  “the processes for creating, communicating and delivering  value to customers and  managing customer relationships”.

In otherwords marketing is all about selling a product, person or property…as the saying goes …a person, place or thing !
The selling technique is the marketing plan or strategy…to persuade others of the worth or value of what you are selling.

Your plan should be in two parts…gain new customers……then keep or maintain the customers. This later part is often neglected.
You need to work these two parts of your on-going marketing to maintain your place in your marketplace.....which is constantly under "change". Whether by; the season, the weather, news, previous customers, competitor diligence, and,  ofcourse the economy.

Once you plan your strategy you need to be aware of your competitors and then create your own identity or place in the marketplace by developing your own brand  - and bringing in sales.
Marketing is maintaining a state of “change”. New venues are always surfacing and e-marketing has developed gradually.  What we know as  traditional marketing remains a solid foundation for growth.  Adding to that is the ability to create your network.
You want to stand out amongst your competitors not copy them. You want to trailblaze your own identity and build your reputation.
Before starting a business or launching a product or offering a service. There needs to be a sound business structure in place…this should be discussed with a business lawyer or chartered accountant.

People sometimes make the mistake of thinking they should incorporate or give their business a name after they “get going”. Well, after you get going you need to “keep going” not worry about taxes and business protection.  An organized business appearance sure adds to credibility with suppliers and customers.
